Kaniva LINK Neighbourhood House

connecting community

About Us

LINK Neighbourhood House is a friendly, welcoming place where people can come together to meet, learn new skills and have fun.

History

LINK Neighbourhood House has evolved over the years from two groups, the Country Education Program (CEP) and an Adult Literacy and Numeracy group to the Kaniva and District Learning Group.  A committee of 8 volunteers was formed in the early 1990’s and KDLG became incorporated in 1993.  In 2002 the KDLG changed its name to Learning and Information Network Kaniva and is now LINK Neighbourhood House Inc.  The changes that have been made over the years have been a direct reflection of the changing needs of the community and in particular the need for Adult Education.  Along with the name changes LINK Neighbourhood House has had many homes, the Kaniva Shire Hall, the Vault and its current premises the old Kaniva Bakery site which has been re-built and out-fitted with up-to-date technology and fixtures. The old bakery oven is still in the shed at the back of the premises.  These new premises were opened on the 26th of March 2009 by the Member for Western Victoria, Jaala Pulford.
